Schematic representation of gut tubulogenesis. Gut tube formation is initiated at the rostral end at stage 22, then gradually expands posteriorly, and finally reaches at the caudal end at stage 26. In the rostral portion, the cells are stacked dorsoventrally and form a rod-like structure, but later adopt a radial structure.
