Figure 2-2.
A typical aquarium system using water recirculation. This type of aquarium system is arranged on several shelves, with a water distribution pipe network (D) connected to a pump (P) for distribution of water to each fish tank (T), a pipe system for collecting overflow to a filter unit (FU), a UV lamp unit for sterilization (U), a filter (Fc) for preventing cross contamination of eggs, and lights for illumination. In the FU, net or plastic wool is used as filter material to remove particles and porous ceramic is used for biological filtration. For water exchange, a drain outlet (O) and a complementary water reservoir tank (R) are installed.
